چکیده

We propose a practical map representation termed rheology mapping for comprehensively evaluating the dependence of viscoelasticity on applied shear deformation and timescale represented by oscillation frequency, utilizing ultrasonic spinning rheometry, which has excellent applicability to wide variety polymer solutions. The was two typical kinds One is carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) aqueous solution, well-known viscous thinning fluid. other polyacrylamide (PAM) solution generally considered as viscoelastic fluid while its difficult be evaluated standard torque-type rheometer. solutions showed notable rheological properties. both CMC PAM vary widely from elastic viscous, depending rate, strain, frequency. also revealed clear viscosity solutions: rate strain. These results provide quantitative support findings in reports associating these macroscopic properties with microscopic dynamics coils.

Constant Force Extensional Rheometry of Polymer Solutions

We revisit the rapid stretching of a liquid filament under the action of a constant imposed tensile force, a problem which was first considered by Matta & Tytus [JNNFM vol. 35, pp 215-229, 1990]. A liquid bridge formed from a viscous Newtonian fluid or from a dilute polymer solution is first established between two cylindrical disks. The upper disk is held fixed and may be connected to a force ...

Extensional opto-rheometry with biofluids and ultra-dilute polymer solutions

Complex fluids containing long polymer chains exhibit measurably large resistance to stretching or extensional flows, due to additional stresses generated by the extensional deformation of the underlying fluid microstructure. Understanding and quantifying the response of such elastic fluids to extensional flows is necessary for optimizing fluid composition for technological applications like in...

Accurate effective pair potentials for polymer solutions

Dilute or semidilute solutions of nonintersecting self-avoiding walk ~SAW! polymer chains are mapped onto a fluid of ‘‘soft’’ particles interacting via an effective pair potential between their centers of mass. This mapping is achieved by inverting the pair distribution function of the centers of mass of the original polymer chains, using integral equation techniques from the theory of simple f...

Inline ultrasonic rheometry by pulsed Doppler.

This will be a discussion of the non-invasive determination of the viscosity of a non-Newtonian fluid in laminar pipe flow over the range of shear rates present in the pipe. The procedure used requires knowledge of the flow profile in and the pressure drop along a long straight run of pipe. The profile is determined by using a pulsed ultrasonic Doppler velocimeter. This approach is ideal for ma...

Polymer Rheology

This chapter concerns the flow behaviour of polymeric liquids. This is a short introduction to the variety of behaviour observed in these complex fluids. It is addressed at the level of a graduate student, who has had exposure to basic fluid mechanics. The contents provide only a broad overview and some simple physical explanations to explain the phenomena. For detailed study and applications t...
